Asahimachi continues to harbor the mysteries of nature and folklore. In the Birudan area, you can try Batabata tea that dates back 600 years with the locals at the Batabata Tea Tradition Museum. (April to mid-December)

朝日町は大地の不思議と民間伝承が残る町。蛭谷(びるだん)地区では室町時代(約600年前)から伝わるバタバタ茶を体験できる『バタバタ茶伝承館』がある。そこでは地域の人々とバタバタ茶を楽しめる(4月~12月中旬)。

地方のゆっくりとした時の流れ、地域の人々との交流を楽しむことができる朝日町。『バタバタ茶伝承館』へ行くときはガイドをつけることをお薦めする。

Cod Miso Soup[ たら汁]
Women have cod miso soup ready on the beach to warmly welcome their husbands back home from fishing. Asahimachi has rows of cod miso soup specialty shops. Check them out!

たら汁は、漁から帰ってくる漁師たちを浜で女房たちが温かく迎えるために作った料理。朝日町にはたら汁専門店が並ぶ地域があるので行ってみよう。

Jade Coast[ヒスイ海岸]
Asahimachi’s Jade Coast is a gravel beach that is 80m wide and about 4km long from east to west. The beach is called the Jade Coast because of the jade found in the gravel. Try searching for jade with a guide.

朝日町のヒスイ海岸は幅80m、東西約4kmの砂利浜。砂利の中にヒスイが含まれているため、ヒスイ海岸と呼ばれています。ガイドと一緒にヒスイを探そう。
